Dear Camden, You are 4 months old...4 months old!! How that happened I just don't know. You are growing so much and bring mommy and daddy so much happiness every day. You are an amazing little baby that we just can't get enough of. You grow more and more every day - hitting milestones - and really becoming your own little person. We lovingly call you Mr. Serious - though you do give us plenty of smiles. You love to just look around and absorb everything that's going on around you. You're quite the squirmer these days, which makes changing your diaper and clothes quite the task. You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE music - we constantly have music playing and if you're fussy and we start singing you'll calm right down (you especially love The Itsy Bitsy Spider and You Are My Sunshine.) You are a super easy baby and we are so grateful! Keep on doing what you're doing - you make mommy and daddy so very happy! We love you, Camden Matthew! WEIGHT - 10lbs 11.7oz (1%)
LENGTH - 23.5" (7%) head circumference is 15.67" (5%) HAIR - still rockin' the combover...which I still love :) It's also getting pretty light (I think we may have a blondie on our hands...) He's also got quite a large bald spot in the back from rubbing his head back and forth - in fact he looks quite silly from the back between his bald spot and his 'rat tail' :-p EYES - getting more and more blue each day <3 CLOTHES - He still fits into a few of his newborn clothes but we're mostly in 0-3 months. As I've mentioned before the kid has no waist/butt (clearly takes after his daddy) so finding pants that fit him is a struggle. DIAPERS - size 1 and we use a Pampers Baby Dry overnight diaper on him at night SLEEP - Still sleeps like a champ...7:30pm-6:45am (hallejuah!) Let's hope this continues...this momma is NERVOUS about the 4 month sleep regression I've read about (fingers crossed for us please!) He usually takes 3 naps a day - one at 9am, one at 1pm, and then a cat nap anywhere between 4:30 and 5. One of the naps is usually 2 hours - the other is anywhere between an hour and 2 hours - then the later one is usually 1/2 hour to an hour. DISLIKES - getting woke up (not that I blame him!), being tired, being on his tummy (he immediately rolls over!!), and of course getting shots :'( LIKES - music and singing, being read to and looking at the pictures, sitting in his frog chair and exersaucer, his paci, watching himself in the mirror, and putting anything and everything in his mouth, especially his fingers! EATING - I nurse him in the morning, he gets a 4oz bottle at 11am and 3pm (2oz of breastmilk and 2oz of formula), then I nurse him again around 6:40 and then top him off with a few ounces of formula or formula/breastmilk mix. We recently switched to Enfamil Gentlease formula (we were using Enfamil for Supplementing before.) MILESTONES - He really grabs for things now and likes to hold onto toys now. He growls a lot now too - it's so dang cute! And he's quite the chatterbox (especially in the morning!!) He rolls over from tummy to back and back to tummy!! He also has super strong legs and loves to stand up and check out the world. His head/neck control is great (except when he's tired and decides to be lazy!) He also GIGGLES - which is by far the most incredible sound EVER!! <3 BABY ITEMS WE CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT - he still loves to be swaddled (we keep one arm out during nap time and overnight and sometimes we'll leave both arms out during a nap) so we're still loving the Halo fleece swaddlers. We also can't live without his Tommee Tippee pacis - he loves these ones and actually keeps them in his mouth!! OTHER - Camden still has a heart murmur so we have to go see a pediatric cardiologist. His pediatrician thinks he's fine but we have to go and rule everything out. We're super scared and nervous but we know we have to do this for our little guy. Lots of thoughts and prayers are welcomed!! Other than that, he's a perfectly happy, healthy baby boy!! The doctor couldn't believe how strong he is for such a little boy and how calm and content he is. Small but MIGHTY <3

I don't know about ya'll but I love me a good cookie. Pretty much anything sweet makes me happy (with the exception of cheesecake!) But when we're eating clean cookies are off limits. So when I came across this recipe I was psyched!!! A cookie we can actually eat while clean eating - sign me up! (my apologies that I don't have an actual picture of the cookies - I haven't made them in a while but wanted to share the recipe with ya'll anyways. #bloggerfail)
Ingredients: 2 cups pureed sweet potato (about 2 sweet potatoes. Just 'bake' them in the microwave and scrape out the insides) 1 cup almond flour 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (you can halve this amount if you'd like, especially if you add extra chocolate chips) 1 & 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 3 T Enjoy Life chocolate chips (or more if you're anything like me!) Preheat oven to 350. Combine all ingredients, except chocolate chips, until smooth (use either a hand blender, food processor, or you can just stir with a spoon or spatula.) Dough will be quite sticky. Let cool slightly. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop cookies onto a lined and greased cookie sheet (the smaller the better.) These cookies don't spread so go ahead and get as many as you can on the cookie sheet. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Let cool. Keep in mind these aren't your regular cookies. They are very soft and moist (gosh I hate that word!) Don't expect the texture of them to be like other cookies you've baked. And since there are no eggs in them you don't have to worry if they're cooked all the way through. When we're clean eating these totally satisfy a sweet tooth craving - a batch of these bad boys never last long in our house!! Happy (and healthy) Baking <3 Yes, I'm alive. Last week was a rough one for us. I was dealing with the stomach bug the entire week - on top of working entirely way too much (not to mention having to file a homeowner's insurance claim for ice dam damage!!) So needless to say my only focus each day was to get through the day and get to bed as soon as I could! Being sick and being a mommy is HARD!! However, I am so incredibly thankful for my husband who picked up my slack last week. I wouldn't have survived the week without you, babe, so THANK YOU!
With that being said, we spent this past weekend recovering and getting 100% healthy. Saturday morning Matt and I had eye exam appointments - hello new contacts and glasses for both of us!! The appointments ran long but Camden was a champ the whole time (even when he didn't get to eat until well over an hour after his normal time!) He seriously is such a good boy - that kid just amazes me more and more every day. The rest of the weekend was filled with lots of errands, laundry, LOTS and LOTS of cleaning and disinfecting, food prep, and of course a ton of playing! Matt put together Camden's saucer and he LOVED it!! It was exactly the type of weekend we needed! On top of all that, it was quite the milestone weekend for Camden. It's like overnight he went from a newborn to an all out BABY!! He giggled for the first time on Saturday and it was the most amazing sound EVER!! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face <3 He also consistenly rolls from his tummy to back - there's no stopping him now!! He 'talks' non-stop - I call him Chatty Cathy because he just loves to tell us stories and tell us what he's thinking. He does AWESOME in his saucer - I can't wait for his feet to actually touch the bottom so he can start jumping...which means soon the jolly jumper can come out (which he's just gonna LOVE!) You're growing up way too fast little man...can we please freeze time?!? |
